Annual Economic Survey

The Annual Economic Survey is part of a suite of Economic Surveys conducted by SCAD. It is one of SCAD’s key data sources for the compilation of economic statistics. The Annual Economic Survey results aims to measure the structure and performance of each economic activity in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. The results enable the construction of key economic indicators for the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. Such information is of crucial significance, especially to decision makers and planners in view of the ongoing efforts of diversifying the economy with unprecedented development and growth in the emirate's non-oil economy. In addition, this data will provide businesses, investors and general stakeholders with baseline business cycle information for investment decisions.

Objectives

Heading to focus on the administrative records to bring the data through strengthen communication and cooperation between the partners and the center.

Reduce the cost of the economic survey by reducing fieldwork in the data collection phase.

Provide the data necessary for the cooperation of national accounts and it provides annual information about various economic activities.​ 

Provide the data necessary to support policy and economic decision-making in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and measure the performance of these policies.

Provide the data necessary for entrepreneurs and investors to make appropriate decisions and to evaluate their investment decisions.

Contribute to a strong base of statistical data for the overall economy in the emirate.

Contribute to the provision of data necessary to the extent of economic diversification and development in the non-oil sectors.

Provide baseline- data to measure progress in achieving the agenda of the Government of Abu Dhabi and Abu Dhabi's Vision 2030.

Contribute to building a national statistical system in the United Arab Emirates through the provision of data on the emirate's economy.

Benefits of survey/project to the society

The overall level of economic activities: the data is required to calculate the sum of value added by all economic activities in the emirate at current prices. It provide data to the National Accounts team to the GDP of the emirate and to extract all the other economic indicators on an annual basis.

Local community service:
the statistics compiled from the AES data and other sources provide important
information about the economy. These statistical indicators are used by
government, private sector businesses, researchers, students, and other users
to develop government policy, make investment decisions, to do research etc. In addition, it can be used by businesses as a reference for measuring their own performance against the overall performance of similar sized businesses
operating in their own economic activity or in similar activities. ​
